About Us

Provisions of Arrowtown opened in 2010 in the restored historic Romans cottage, dating back to the 1870’s Arrowtown goldrush era.

At Provisions of Arrowtown, we're all about fresh modern, seasonal food and offers an all day menu as well as fast and easy healthy counter food and baking. Matthias Schmitt and Monika Ederer became the happy new owners of Provisions in April 2023.

Having grown up on a small farm in Germany, being surrounded by nature and living in harmony with the environment has always been crucial to us. Thanks to our families for instilling a strong appreciation for nature's gifts — combined with our knowledge and experience gained over the years, we now create beautiful dishes and treats that we love to share.

We're big fans of using local, fresh ingredients and strive to source our goods sustainably. Handpicking fresh apples straight from our trees and transforming them into mouthwatering cakes — then seeing guests enjoy these creations in our garden is truly priceless.

Matthias has worked in many fine dining establishments, gaining expertise in using top-quality ingredients and cutting-edge cooking techniques. Monika is the baker extraordinaire, specialising in crafting exquisite desserts and chocolates.

When we're not in the kitchen, we're spending time with our two amazing children in the great outdoors, camping, skiing, hiking, and enjoying water sports.

Join us for a cosy catch up over coffee and sticky buns or a casual long lunch in the garden under the fruit trees. Provisions of Arrowtown offers café food all made on site along with fresh baked breads, bagels and pastries baked daily.

In addition to our cafe, we also offer catering services.
